The collegiate court of Imperia sentenced in first instance to 20 years' imprisonment a 40-year-old man accused of sexual violence against his daughter (who was 7 years old at the time), a niece-in-law of his wife (who at she was 11 years old at the time) and of a friend of the latter (12 years old).

During the indictment, prosecutor Francesca Dentis had asked for an 8-year sentence. The Court instead imposed on the man more than double the sentence requested by the prosecution.

These are several episodes that occurred in Imperia. «I consider such a heavy sentence to be absolutely unjustified - states the defense lawyer, Ersilia Ferrante - both in light of the prosecutor's requests and the defense's considerations. I look forward to reading the reasons for the sentence and will appeal, hoping for a more appropriate judgement."

A provisional amount of 50 thousand euros was also ordered against the man, with compensation to be agreed in civil court.

Furthermore, he was subjected to additional penalties: in addition to the loss of parental rights, the ban on approaching minors even after the end of his sentence.
