She was segregated at home for several days, with the aim of forcing her into an arranged marriage with a 31-year-old North African who wanted to obtain Italian citizenship.

The incredible story that sees a 27-year-old resident in the Modena area as the victim was brought to light by the carabinieri of Reggio Emilia, in an investigation that started with a computer fraud.

For this reason, eight foreigners between the ages of 23 and 43, residing in the provinces of Reggio Emilia, Turin and Verona, are being investigated on the loose. The charges are conspiracy in kidnapping, drug dealing, computer fraud and induction into marriage through deception.

It all started in 2020, when a 29-year-old from Reggio who had lost her mobile phone, reactivated her user account, realized that her email had been used by strangers to exchange information, documents and photos. She presented herself at the barracks for the complaint and the military identified a 31-year-old North African who by email was trying to induce the 27-year-old victim to marry him in order to obtain Italian citizenship in exchange for a fee of 10 thousand euros.

Here began the ordeal for the girl, who had refused the arranged marriage. The 31-year-old first deprived her of documents and cell phone, then segregated her first in the house of a couple of Albanian citizens in Reggio Emilia, then in another apartment in Verona owned by another North African.

In the end, thanks to a little luck, she managed to escape and reported everything. The investigation revealed that the places where the 27-year-old was segregated were also bases for drug trafficking.
