A 42-year-old man was struck by lightning while riding his motorbike and died from electrocution.

A 42-year-old tourist, resident in Rome and on holiday in Salento , died after being struck by lightning while riding his motorbike on state road 275, in the stretch connecting Nociglia to Surano, in Lower Salento.
A violent storm had broken out in the area.
The Carabinieri and 118 paramedics intervened on site.
The lightning bolt reportedly threw him from his motorcycle and electrocuted him. The accident occurred near a plaque commemorating another death that occurred in the same manner many years ago.
