Former Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano has filed a complaint against entrepreneur Maria Rosaria Boccia. The complaint is on the desk of the magistrates of the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office.

The former head of the ministry, as announced on several occasions by his lawyer, has gone on the counterattack in the case that broke out at the end of August and which led to his resignation. The investigators, coordinated by the prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, will proceed to the formal opening of the file and the registration of the influencer from Pompeii in the register of suspects.

In recent weeks, the lawyer Silverio Sica, Sangiuliano's lawyer, had stated that his client had been the object of "illegal pressure" by the woman, leaving it to be understood that the complaint could have alleged the crime of attempted extortion. "To the complaint," declared the criminal lawyer who in recent days has maintained the utmost confidentiality on the matter, "we will also attach a series of documents that demonstrate the absolute correctness of my client's conduct, also providing a chronological reconstruction of the facts."

The proceedings will run parallel to the one that has been under the attention of the ministers' court for days and in which Sangiuliano is being investigated for embezzlement for the trips in which Boccia was with the now ex-minister, and disclosure and use of official secrets regarding the emails on the organization of the G7 in Pompeii. Not only the criminal justice system but also the administrative one has started an investigation into the political case at the end of the summer. The Court of Auditors of Lazio has opened a file for possible damage to the treasury. The accounting magistrates want to see clearly the expenses incurred by the Ministry of Culture and in particular the use of official cars and the minister's stays in the company of the businesswoman with whom, by his own admission, he was romantically linked.

For her part, Boccia returns to write on social media, stating that she "really appreciates the satire and irony that are made" towards her, "however" she stigmatizes that she "has not yet read any article that has dwelt on the theme of the truth that I am trying to communicate and that no one seems to listen to". The entrepreneur also states that she appreciated the letter that Marina Berlusconi wrote "to Repubblica in response to the articles on the meeting with President Mario Draghi" and in particular "endorses" the passage on fake news.
