A man died after being sucked into the engine of a plane taking off from Orio al Serio , Bergamo airport. It appears that the man was not an airport employee, but a person who had entered the runway.

All flights at the airport have been suspended since 10:20, "due to an incident on the taxiway, the causes of which are being investigated by law enforcement," reported the airport management company, Sacbo. Air traffic, suspended for a couple of hours, has resumed since midday. As for Sardinia, the flight to Alghero scheduled for today, July 8, at 1:00 p.m. has been cancelled . Several incoming flights have been diverted to the airports of Milan Malpensa, Verona and Bologna.

The plane involved in the accident is an Airbus A319 of the airline Volotea, departing from Orio and headed to Asturias, Spain. It seems that the aircraft had just left the stand where the passengers were loaded, when the accident occurred , the circumstances of which the police are trying to shed light on.
