He kills the man convicted of the beating death of his son five years ago . A private vendetta is the most credible theory behind the shooting death that occurred yesterday in the heart of Rocca di Papa , a town in the Castelli Romani area just a few kilometers from the capital.

Guglielmo Palozzi, a 62-year-old sanitation worker, pulled the trigger. The victim was Franco Lollobrigida, 35. But there had already been another victim in this bloody story: Giuliano Palozzi, Guglielmo's son. He was 34 in January 2020 when Lollobrigida beat him over a debt of just 25 euros. Giuliano died after a few months of agony in a Roman hospital .

Now, five years later, he is the one who has died, at the hands of the boy's father. This is the culmination of an event that has shaken the Castelli Romani community, sparked by a brawl over trivial matters. Charged with the young man's death, Lollobrigida admitted to investigators in October 2023 that he punched his peer between the nose and cheekbone after seeing his rival pull out something, perhaps a weapon, and therefore that he acted in self-defense. However, he also maintained that others, after him, arrived after the punch and finished Palozzi's massacre .

In February 2024 , the Court of Assizes ruled in his favor, acquitting him. Last May, however, the Court of Appeal overturned the conviction, sentencing the young man from Rocca di Papa to ten years in prison for manslaughter.
