Massimo D'Alema under investigation for aggravated international corruption regarding the sale of some military aircraft and ships to Colombia.

There are eight people registered in the register under investigation by the economic crimes section of the Naples prosecutor's office: in addition to the former prime minister, there are Alessandro Profumo (CEO of Leonardo), Giuseppe Giordo (former director of the Navi sector of Fincantieri), Gherardo Guardo (accountant of D'Alema), Umberto Claudio Bonavita, Francesco Amato, Emanuele Caruso and Giancarlo Mazzotta.

The investigation focuses in particular on the sale to Colombia of M346 aircraft, corvettes and submarines produced by Italian companies with public participation, such as Leonardo and Fincantieri. The supply on which the attention of the Neapolitan prosecutors has focused would have a value of over 4 billion euros.

Today the public prosecutor's office delegated a series of searches in the homes and offices of D'Alema, Profumo, Giordo and Guardo to the Digos of Naples.

The aggravated form is disputed by the investigators as the crime was allegedly committed with the help of an organized criminal group arriving in various countries, including Italy, the USA, Colombia and others.

The disputed facts date back to a date close to 27 January 2022.
