The TAR of Trento suspended until 27 June the order to cull the Jj4 and Jj5 bears , i.e. the measure taken after the attack that claimed the life of Andrea Papi, the 26-year-old runner who died on 5 April while jogging in a Val di Sole.

For the administrative court, in fact, the danger of bear Jj4 – the main suspect in the attack – has not been fully ascertained.

«The culling measure follows the affirmation of the dangerousness of the animal, but this affirmation finds no explanation in the contested decree, nor in the two opinions of Ispra» given that «in the case in question no serious investigations were carried out in this regard ».

The Tar of Trento itself asks to verify the dynamics of the attack by the bear Jj4 on Andrea Papi : «Although there is reason to believe that the attack by the young Andrea Papi depended on the presence of cubs following the bear (.. .) however there is no trace of the investigations carried out by the Province in this regard, because the requested documentation was not produced in court (...) all the more necessary if one considers that even the party's consultant in his report, following the autopsy examination carried out on the young man's body, highlighted the need for further checks", write the administrative judges.
