"The tattoo hurts me, we need the Tac": the doctor tells her to wait and is attacked

A doctor in the emergency room at the Cardarelli hospital in Campobasso was attacked during his work shift : the episode, according to the Campobasso medical association, dates back to the night between 17 and 18 July. Around midnight the doctor was following three risk situations: a code orange for respiratory problems and hypotension, a suspected cerebral ischemia and septic shock.

While the doctor was organizing priorities, a woman who entered the ward without authorization approached him asking for a CT scan of her leg for an alleged tattoo infection (her own diagnosis).

The doctor then invited her out, reminding her to respect the rules of triage and she did so, however, starting to yell at him with heavy insults. The doctor resumed his work, but was interrupted shortly after by the woman, accompanied by a man. The two locked him in his room, offending and threatening him, in particular with retaliation against him and his family if he did not immediately prescribe the CAT scan.

At the doctor's denial, the attack became more violent: she threatened to call her son too to have him beaten. At that point the doctor, who was unable to leave the room, called the attention of the staff on duty who alerted the police. However, the situation worsened with the arrival of another man who began to threaten the doctor.

«After addressing me with vulgar epithets - said the victim of the attack - he said he would inquire about where I lived to catch me and kill me and hurt my wife and children . In making these statements he was incited by the woman who continued to offend me with the same words".

Then everything degenerated as the last man arrived raised his cell phone to throw it at the doctor, but was blocked by another doctor and a nurse. Other doctors rushed and the three attackers left amidst threats and insults to all the staff. The matter then ended up in the hands of the police, who arrived at the scene.

The doctor attacked after trying and resuming the activity was taken ill.
