A story on which the ASL Toscana Centro is committed to shedding light on that relating to a 32-year-old from Prato, who in recent weeks had reported to the carabinieri how, following the birth in the local hospital, she had forgotten a gauze in her belly.

The woman, as reported by the local newspapers, had told of having had severe stomach pains for a month and after the birth of her baby, then a sudden illness during a vacation in Bergamo that forced her to go to the hospital, and there the discovery of the health workers: a gauze in the uterus, evidently forgotten during the birth operations.

The ASL Toscana Centro, compared to what was reported in the local press, states today in a note that "the case was examined by a multidisciplinary group that analyzed the various clinical aspects. It was not found that the lady was subjected to surgery. abdominal surgery performed on the occasion. After the birth, which took place at the Santo Stefano hospital, the lady met several times and regularly with the obstetrics and gynecology team who are always at her disposal ".

The ASL, the note continues, "takes note of the statements made and, as a matter of course, has already started an in-depth investigation through a specific internal investigation that will involve the hospital to ascertain every aspect of the matter and be able to arrive at a truthful analysis of the facts. At the moment, no communication has been received from the competent bodies. The Health Authority remains available if the need arises ".
