The Court of Appeal of Florence confirmed the first instance sentence against the former Forza Italia parliamentarian, who was given a sentence of five years and six months for the fraudulent bankruptcy of Ste, the Società Toscana di Edizioni, which until bankruptcy he published the Giornale della Toscana combined with Il Giornale of the Berlusconi family.
The sentences for the other defendants have also been confirmed: 5 years for the former deputy Massimo Parisi, 3 years as administrators in the various phases to Girolamo Strozzi Majorca Renzi, Pierluigi Picerno and Gian Luca Biagiotti.
Verdini has been under house arrest since January after almost three months spent in Rebibbia prison following the final sentence for another crash, that of the Credito Cooperativo Fiorentino.
The court of appeal sentenced Verdini and the other defendants to pay the legal costs and the costs of the civil parties. The judges met in a council chamber which lasted about two hours after the attorney general asked for confirmation of the first instance sentences.
