The Palermo Court of Appeal presided over by Angelo Pellino confirmed the life sentence for Pietro Morreale . The young man from Caccamo (Palermo) is accused of killing Roberta Siragusa on the night between 23 and 24 January 2021 .

Aggravated murder and concealment of a corpse are the charges. The victim's family and the Municipality of Caccamo formed a civil party in the trial with the assistance of the lawyers Giuseppe Canzone, Giovanni Castronovo, Simona La Verde and Sergio Burgio. Deputy Attorney General Maria Teresa Maligno had asked for the life sentence to be confirmed. Pietro Morreale is defended by the lawyer Gaetano Giunta.

All of Roberta's relatives were present at the reading of the device, her father, mother, brother, grandmother, aunt and cousins and many friends.

At first instance, the nineteen-year-old was also sentenced to pay damages to the victim's mother, Iana Brancato, for 225 thousand euros; to his father Filippo Siragusa, for 229 thousand and to his brother Dario, for 209 thousand and to his grandmother Maria Barone for 117 thousand euros. Pietro Morreale will also have to compensate the Municipality of Caccamo with an executive provision of 15 thousand euros.

Roberta Siragusa was 17 years old, she was burned alive near the stadium . Suspicions immediately focused on her boyfriend Pietro Morreale, 21, who was with her that evening and who has always professed his innocence, claiming that it was the girl who set herself on fire after an argument .

And instead, according to what was reconstructed by the police, that night Pietro beat his girlfriend who had decided to leave him and set her on fire. He watched it burn, then loaded the body into the car and left the body on a cliff not far from the victim's house .
