He was released less than two months ago from Rebibbia prison, where he served a 22-year sentence for the murder of Monica Moretti , which occurred in Sassari in 2002.
Not even time to taste freedom and Raimondo Gaspa, now 52 years old, was arrested again. For stalking , according to a scheme that partly follows what happened in 2002 in Sassari.
Let's start from 2002. Gaspa had fallen in love with Monica Moretti, a 38-year-old urologist. She didn't reciprocate: " I called her, but she rejected me, she didn't want to know about me. That's why I decided to go to his house ," he told the investigators. Monica was punched, strangled and stabbed 50 times. She was found with a knife stuck in her throat , he tried to burn down the house before fleeing to erase the traces.
The man was released from prison on April 21st . And he didn't waste time, he immediately began to persecute a twenty-year-old who he had met casually during detention because she was the girlfriend of another prisoner.
He repeatedly harassed her on the phone, even making heavy sexual advances , so much so that he pushed her to change residence because he was following her: " I saw you doing the shopping ", he allegedly wrote to her. The first two anonymous calls, with explicit advances, the day he was released from prison . Then, in early May, eight calls in one day. A crescendo that pushed the girl to file a complaint, then the police gave the stalker a face.
Hence the arrest for stalking, carried out by the carabinieri of the Rome Monte Spaccato station, who executed the precautionary custody order in prison issued by the investigating judge. The judge's order states that the man "today appears to be drawn from an irrepressible criminal impulse which led him to reproduce, a few hours after his release from prison for the voluntary murder of the woman he fell in love with in 2022, serious illicit conduct, engaging in criminal behavior that denotes a truly serial nature ." Gaspa is now detained in Regina Coeli prison.
