The appeal of the Humanity 1 lawyers was presented to the Civil Court of Catania . The request to the judge is to order the immediate disembarkation of the 34 migrants still on board. The appeal was sent by the lawyer of the German NGO, the lawyer Riccardo Campochiaro .

However, the appeal that will be presented to the Lazio TAR against the provision that requires the ship's captain to leave the port of Catania with migrants on board, a provision that has no deadline, is still in preparation .

In the last few hours the political clash on the management of migratory flows had ignited, with the opposition to the attack on the "inhumanity" of the government and the reply of Matteo Salvini : "These are organized trips, we must stop this trafficking in human beings" . The situation aboard the two ships in Catania, however, had worsened by the hour. On Humanity, according to the NGO, due to the " depressive phase " they are going through, some of the castaways had begun to eat little or skip meals.

For the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio , the "selection among migrants" who can get off the ships "is not made on the basis of their interests, but those of the smugglers who bring them". So the words of Giuseppe Conte: the government, according to the M5s leader, "will soon discover that the issue of migratory flows must be tackled without easy slogans or muscular displays to the detriment of desperate people and families".

The secretary of the Italian Left Nicola Fratoianni speaks instead of "indolence" on the part of Italy and Europe while the democratic judiciary asks that "the government immediately withdraw its decrees, which are manifestly illegitimate, and allow everyone to disembark".

The European Commission reiterates that there is a “ moral and legal duty to save people at sea , according to international law. We need to minimize the time they spend at sea ”.
