Peace yes, but "founded on justice".

The Head of State Sergio Mattarella writes in a message sent for Easter to Pope Francis.

"The Easter spirit renews in the conscience the invitation to keep hope alive and a firm commitment to a peace founded on justice, while the message that Your Holiness tirelessly spreads in defense of the dignity of the person constitutes for all, believers and non-believers, a fruitful source of inspiration for commitment to and towards each other ", reads the letter from the President of the Republic.

"Your Holiness, on the feast of Holy Easter - writes Sergio Mattarella - I am pleased to address to you, on behalf of the Italian people and my personal, heartfelt and cordial wishes. In this time of profound concern, the most fundamental human rights are tragically trampled on in Ukraine as well as in many other regions of the world. The war of aggression, the supreme negation of those essential bonds of brotherhood on which human coexistence is based, continues in these weeks to sow unspeakable grief, to separate families, to violate the innocence of smaller and more fragile ".

Then the passage quoted above on a peace that can be hoped for, but which cannot fail to be founded on justice.

"With the deep hope that the appeal to flee from violence may be accepted by the entire human family - and in the spirit of deep friendship that unites Italy to the Apostolic See - I renew to you the expressions of the utmost consideration for your high ministry, begging you to accept the best wishes of all Italians and my personal for Easter and for the next anniversary of your name day ", concludes Mattarella.
