The terrible toll , still provisional, of the wave of bad weather that hit the Marche during the night is of nine confirmed deaths and four missing , including two minors . This is what the prefecture of Ancona communicated to the operations room of the Civil Protection Department.

The victims in the province of Ancona , and in particular in Ostra , Trecastelli and Barbara . A 56-year-old mother and 17-year-old daughter are missing in the latter municipality. And always Barbara's story about her mother and her eight-year-old son: the woman was rescued but the search for the baby is still ongoing. According to what was reconstructed, she would be able to leave the car with the child but by the hand, then snatched by the fury of the water.

Another victim was registered in Bettolelle , a fraction of the municipality of Senigallia, where the body of a man was run over by water while he was aboard his car. Another person who had sought shelter in a tree is rescued by the fire brigade.

The scenery is devastating : flooded houses up to the first floor, streets like streams and rivers in flood that also threaten the coastal municipalities.

AID AND INJURIES - The flood of the Misa river keeps the city in apprehension , already hit by the flood in 2014.

In the night rescuers saved dozens of people who took refuge on the roofs of houses and trees. More than 150 interventions carried out.

"The emergency room of the hospital in Senigallia is welcoming people in a state of shock and hypothermia , who have been rescued and transported out of their homes, where they were blocked by water" the words of the regional health councilor, Filippo Saltamartini. At the moment the estimate is of 50 wounded also transported to the hospitals "of Jesi and Fano". On the other hand, 90 people are currently being welcomed at the reception center set up at the Episcopal seminary of Senigallia in via Cellini. These are mostly elderly people and families.

Manfredi confirmed what other mayors of the area have underlined in these hours: “The weather alert was yellow for the Apennine areas and the Pesarese and Fabrianese, a normal alert. But the range was by no means expected. It was not so much water that fell on our territory but what the Meola torrent brought down from the mountain. The problem is earth and mud that came down from the Apennines ”.

THE SIX MONTHS RAIN FALLED - According to a first analysis by Meteo.It experts, the region was subjected to a six-month rain in one afternoon : the storm system was born in the west of Sardinia, crossed the Tyrrhenian Sea and took energy from the sea very hot.

"These are the climatic changes underway, with the legacy of the very hot summer 2022 which, due to the warm sea, leaves a possibility of intense storms for at least another month. The meteorological season", reads the specialized website, "will officially end tomorrow with the arrival of very strong winds, bad weather and a widespread thermal collapse. But as seen yesterday, the risk of summer storms, due to the accumulated heat, will continue to accompany us for weeks ".

Rains and thunderstorms have also caused inconvenience and problems in the Aretino area , in Tuscany, where about forty families were left without electricity or water.

"President Mattarella expressed solidarity with our community and gratitude to all those who are tirelessly working for relief - he adds -. "The pain for what happened is profound but the Marche community is strong - continues Acquaroli - and will know how to react. My thoughts go to the missing people and their families, to whom I express condolences and closeness".

DRAGONS IN FLOODED TERRITORIES - The Prime Minister Mario Draghi announced a visit, in the afternoon, to Ostra, in the province of Ancona, to visit the territories affected by bad weather and to preside over operational meetings with the coordination of relief efforts and with local authorities.
