The incident occurred in Milan , where, on the night between February 19th and 20th, a 24-year-old man was trapped in the UniCredit branch on Viale Certosa . The individual, of Bangladeshi origin, had managed to gain entry to the bank's vault, only to be trapped for the next nine hours before being freed by firefighters.

The alarm was raised by private security personnel who, through the video surveillance system, detected the presence of an individual attempting to force open the safety deposit boxes.

According to initial investigations, the man entered the bank during opening hours and then managed to reach the vault. Once freed, the thief was arrested by the Milan Carabinieri on charges of attempted aggravated theft .
