They beat him to death after he turned them away from the nightclub because they didn't have tickets. The argument began inside the club and continued outside. In less than 48 hours, police and Carabinieri closed the investigation into the death of Antonio Perrotta, the 34-year-old worker who was beaten outside a nightclub in Sangineto, where he worked as a private security guard, and later died in Cosenza hospital. The perpetrators are two brothers in their early twenties, locals but residents of Luxembourg. They have been arrested on charges of murder, aggravated by frivolous and despicable motives.

The investigation, conducted by officers from the Cosenza Flying Squad and the Diamante police station, and by Carabinieri officers from the Paola and Scalea companies, uncovered a series of "serious circumstantial evidence," which led Paola's prosecutor, Domenico Fiordalisi, to issue the warrant. The two detainees, who exercised their right to remain silent during questioning, are originally from Belvedere Marittimo (Cosenza), where they were located, but live and work in Luxembourg. Both also play rugby and periodically return to their hometown in Calabria, especially during the summer.

Upon arrest, investigators found blood-stained clothing consistent with that worn by the attackers on the night of the beating. Their identification was apparently made possible by surveillance footage acquired immediately after Perrotta's death. Investigators also collected testimony from several people who reported what happened on the evening of August 8th and 9th at the Sangineto nightclub. They reported an initial argument between the bouncer and the two brothers inside the club. The argument then continued outside the nightclub, escalating into a violent beating. Perrotta, who was treated by several people, was taken to Cetraro hospital due to feeling unwell and suffering from a nosebleed. Paramedics, after determining his condition was critical, transferred him to the intensive care unit in Cosenza, where he later died.

The investigation is now continuing to reconstruct in more detail the circumstances of the incident and the motive for the argument. The evidence emerging from the autopsy, which will be performed in the coming hours, will also be helpful. Perrotta's family, shocked by what happened, is demanding that "justice be done." Meanwhile, Cosenza Police Chief Antonio Borelli has issued a 15-day suspension of the license for the Sangineto nightclub. The decision is aimed at preventing the continuation of a "situation of social danger" and "protecting public order and safety, regardless of any liability on the part of the owner."

Meanwhile, the mayors of the Tyrrhenian Sea area of Cosenza have expressed their sympathy to Antonio Perrotta's family and their confidence in the work of the investigators, but also called for "greater security on the ground." The mayors of the two municipalities most affected have made this clear right away. "You can't die like this," said Giacomo Middea, mayor of Fuscaldo, who announced a day of mourning for the thirty-four-year-old's funeral. They also called for the cancellation or postponement of events and demonstrations. There was also no public display in Sangineto, where Mayor Michele Guardia said, "Violence cannot and must never have a place in our community," and clarified that "incidents of this gravity cannot be ignored."
