The Regional Administrative Court of Lombardy has rejected the appeals filed by the City of Milan and several municipalities in the Varese area—Cardano al Campo, Somma Lombardo, and Samarate— against the naming of Malpensa Airport after Silvio Berlusconi . "I am deeply satisfied with this ruling, which confirms the absolute correctness of the administrative process followed by all the institutions involved. This process was initiated at the instigation of the Lombardy Regional Council, which, shortly after Berlusconi's death , approved a motion requesting that Malpensa be named after him, committing President Fontana to take action, as indeed occurred," commented Marco Bestetti, Lombardy's regional councilor for the Brothers of Italy (FdI). At the Pirellone, Bestetti had requested and obtained the Lombardy Region's appearance in court to defend the naming of Malpensa after Berlusconi.

"I am proud to have secured the Lombardy Region's appearance in court against these appeals, which had a clearly political and ideological undertone that we found absolutely unacceptable. It's unfortunate that the Court had to waste time and public resources on such ridiculous appeals," Bestetti concludes, "but we are very satisfied with the outcome of the judgment: Malpensa Airport will remain named after Silvio Berlusconi, much to the chagrin of the permanent haters, who, given the likely embarrassment of boarding a plane, have no choice but to take to the train."
