The Lucca court sentenced Mario Cipollini to 3 years.

The former cycling world champion was accused of injuries, mistreatment and threats to his ex-wife Sabrina Landucci. In the process the prosecutor Letizia Cai had asked for 2 years and 6 months.

Cipollini was also sentenced for threats to the new partner of the ex, Silvio Giusti, a former professional footballer. The judge also ruled the sentence to pay 80 thousand euros to his ex-wife and 5 thousand euros to his partner .

"It's difficult to comment - said Landucci - but I'm happy even though it was a very difficult journey and today was a very difficult day. It was really hard to listen because the defense side hurt me very, very badly, I really felt offended and above all the thing that offended me the most was having traced this image of mine as an inadequate mother while it is the thing I have fought against all my life ”.
Landucci denounced Cipollini in January 2017 after an attack (under the eyes of several witnesses) in a gym in Sant'Alessio di Lucca where she works and which cost her seven days of prognosis in the emergency room .

Other episodes then emerged that took place between 2016 and 2017, "a series of damaging acts - said the prosecutor - of the physical and mental integrity of the ex-wife with punches, slaps, kicks, with injuries and death threats". All this, underlined the prosecutor Cai, while Sabrina Landucci was trying to turn the page in her life by embarking on a new romantic relationship with her current partner.

Cipollini and his lawyers have attempted to dismantle this reconstruction , both from the point of view of testimony and facts, denying that the former world champion has used violence against the woman or - as he was accused - of having pointed a gun at her. As for the attack in the gym, Cipollini has always claimed to have limited himself to grabbing her by the wrist during a discussion concerning the children.
