He had gone to his mother's grave in Trieste to bring a flower but a wasp stung him, triggering an anaphylactic shock that caused his death.
The tragedy cost the life of Trieste chef Pavel Marc, 47 years old.
Last Friday he reached the cemetery and while placing the flowers on the grave he was stung by the wasp. He had time to call a friend to explain what had happened, then he got into the car to go home but, after getting out of the passenger compartment, he had a cardiac arrest. Some neighbors found him and raised the alarm. Rescuers revived the chef and then transferred him to hospital.
His conditions, already critical, worsened until he died.
Pavel Marc won the Chef of the Year award in 2012 with his pumpkin cappuccino, with the edible cup in which toasted almonds and slices of foie gras were intertwined.
