Milan prosecutor Francesca Crupi asked for a 30-year prison sentence for Marco Venturi, a 45-year-old accused of voluntary murder for killing his girlfriend Carlotta Benusiglio.
The woman, a 37-year-old fashion designer, was found hanged with a scarf from a tree in the gardens of Piazza Napoli in Milan on the night of May 31, 2016.
The request for arrest for the man - also accused for stalking and injuries to the detriment of his partner - had been rejected three times by the investigating judge, review and cassation.
An expert in the investigation phase established that the woman had committed suicide, but according to the prosecutor it was he who strangled her , with a scarf or with his own arm, before staging the hanging.
