The 16-year-old who dived into the Adda River in Merlino (Lodi) yesterday after 6 p.m. and never resurfaced died at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.

After the alarm was raised by friends of the boy of African origin, a guest in a community for minors, the Lodi firefighters found him with the Drago helicopter that had taken off from Malpensa, motionless on the riverbed in the Bocchi di Comazzo area .

Then, after more than half an hour of resuscitation attempts, the young man was taken to San Raffaele in desperate conditions.

For years, bathing has been prohibited in the area due to safety reasons due to irregular depths and turbulence .
