The DNA found on Chiara Poggi's nails appears to be valid . This hypothesis is based on statements made by geneticist Marzio Capra, a longtime consultant to the victim's family , at the end of last Friday's hearing before investigating judge Daniela Garlaschelli. "For this analysis of the DNA from the nail edges," he said, "we will need to carry out all possible comparisons."

According to Alberto Stasi's defense, the prosecutors and their consultants, one of the two genetic profiles present on Chiara's nails can be traced back to Andrea Sempio , the only suspect (in complicity) in the new inquiry into the murder committed in the villa on Via Pascoli in Garlasco on August 13, 2007. The lawyers and consultants of the suspect and of the Poggi family, on the contrary, have always maintained that the genetic material collected was not sufficient to arrive at a reliable result .

The DNA that led to the reopening of the investigation against Marco Poggi's longtime friend will therefore be compared, including with that of Sempio, as part of the ongoing preliminary investigation.

The experts appointed by the judge to carry out all the tests, namely geneticist Denise Albani and fingerprint expert Domenico Marchigiani, requested and obtained a 70-day extension, until December 18, to complete the analyses . A third expert, Giovanni Di Censo, was then appointed to examine the fingerprints on the parasitic samples and those found on the cereal package and the garbage bag, if they are deemed usable.

As established by the preliminary investigations judge during the last hearing, the now known fingerprint 33, found on a wall of the stairs leading to the basement of the Poggi villa and attributed by investigators to Sempio, defended by lawyers Massimo Lovati and Angela Taccia, remains outside the evidentiary hearing .

The court will return to discuss the results of the investigations on December 18th. Meanwhile , the parallel investigations by the Brescia prosecutors into the former Pavia prosecutor Mario Venditti, accused of having been bribed to request the archiving of Andrea Sempio's case in the 2017 investigation, continue .
