Mattia's school backpack was found, the eight-year-old boy missing after the wave of bad weather that hit the evening of September 15 in the Marche region.

The backpack, recognized by family members, was found yesterday about 8 kilometers away from the point where the child was swept away by the water of the Nevola river , which tore him from the arms of his mother Silvia Mereu (originally from Urzulei), along the road between Ripalta di Arcevia and Castellone di Suasa.

The position, it is specified, may not be indicative of the point where Mattia Luconi can be found .

"The discovery of Mattia's backpack? A stab, a bolt from the blue", commented the little boy's father, Tiziano Luconi . "I never leave hope - he added - even today even if the weather is not the best, I hope to find him perhaps passed out, hidden because he is afraid and has fled somewhere", he added.

The flood caused 11 victims, two missing : little Mattia and Brunella Chiù, a 56-year-old woman whose 17-year-old daughter was found lifeless.
