Massimo Adriatici, the former Northern League councilor for Security in Voghera, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the voluntary homicide of Younes El Boussettaoui, the 39-year-old Moroccan , killed by a gunshot in Piazza Meardi, in the Pavia town on the evening of July 20, 2021. The Prosecutor's Office had requested 11 years and 4 months for him.

In addition to the sentence, Judge Luigi Riganti today also ordered provisional compensation of €380,000 for the victim's family. €90,000 each will go to Younes's parents, while €50,000 each will be awarded to the victim's two brothers and sisters. "We are delighted," commented Bahija El Boussettaoui, one of Younes's sisters, as she left the courthouse. "I didn't expect a sentence higher than the prosecutor's request. But we won't be truly happy until we see Adriatici in prison in handcuffs. Compensation? That's not an issue for us right now. We're just asking for justice for my brother."
