"Some stupid thing they did." With these words Pope Francis, during the flight to Budapest, where the pontiff is planning an official visit, defined the insinuations about John Paul II spread in recent days in relation to the case of Emanuela Orlandi.

During his greetings to journalists, the Pontiff replied to a Polish correspondent who thanked him for defending Pope Wojtyla.

"They tell me that Wojtyla occasionally went out in the evening with two Polish monsignors and certainly didn't go to bless houses..." were the words pronounced by Pietro Orlandi, brother of the girl who disappeared in 1983, on the microphones of the program Di Martedì, on A7. Words that have caused a stir and triggered controversy.
