Renzo Fontana, 97 years old, grandfather of Elisa Mulas, died in a retirement home in Sassuolo, killed with her two young children and her mother by her Tunisian partner Nabil Dahir, who then took his own life.
On the day of the massacre, Wednesday 17 November, the man was in his bed in the house in Via Manin. He was spared from the murderous fury of the 38-year-old, after the discovery of the corpses he was taken in charge by social workers and hospitalized in a retirement home.
There, a few days after the massacre, he lost his life due to his precarious health conditions. He had contracted Covid in May 2020, then he was healed, but he was suffering from many other diseases.
The elderly man did not witness the massacre and in all probability he did not notice anything, so much so that the investigators never even considered the possibility of listening to him as a witness to the facts.
While the date and place of the funeral of the 4 victims are being decided, the municipality of Sassuolo announces that the solidarity fund for little Elisa, 11, who was at school at the time of the massacre, exceeded 30 thousand euros.
