Joint exercise between the Guardia di Finanza and the National Alpine and Speleological Corps . The activities, conducted in September, aimed to perfect search and rescue techniques in medium and high mountain areas.
The different operational contexts allowed the personnel to train in scenarios characterised by increasing complexity . The use of the Aviation Centre's AW139 and AW169 helicopters allowed numerous operational simulations of recovery using a winch to be carried out , such as evacuation of the injured, air rescue and transport of people, including on stretchers , perfecting the coordination between pilots, winch operators, Alpine Rescue technicians and specialised personnel.
Among the most significant moments of the training was the joint nighttime activity using NVG (Night Vision Goggles), during which the rescue of climbers trapped on the rock face was simulated . The operations were preceded by dedicated joint technical briefings aimed at planning and sharing operational procedures.
The exercise represents the continuation of the collaborative relationships initiated with the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2021 between the Guardia di Finanza and the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps, which was followed, at the regional level, by the agreement between the Sardinia Regional Command and the CNSAS Regional Service, aimed at strengthening operational collaboration, promoting joint training, and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of search and rescue operations to protect the community.
