Sigfrido Ranucci has been suspended for 10 days by RAI. The measure, according to reports, does not specify the duration of the suspension, but it does include his removal from the editorial staff and the suspension of his salary.
The Viale Mazzini decision is said to be based on four disciplinary disputes : around fifty visits by Laura Cianfoni, a former CISL union representative , to the company headquarters; the content of the conversation with M5S parliamentarian Dario Carotenuto ; the company emails forwarded to Valter Lavitola ; and the denigration of colleagues, particularly Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi , initially tipped to succeed the journalist at the helm of Report.
The suspension comes on the eve of the ruling on Ranucci's request for reinstatement , expected within days. And just this morning, Paolo Corsini, director of Rai's In-Depth News, commented on the sidelines of a press conference: "Ranucci reinstated? Let's hope it doesn't happen, we don't think it can happen." "I did what I had to do. We're working calmly, we believe we're in the right and that we've done everything correctly."
Meanwhile, the Report editorial staff continues its work in preparation for the debut scheduled for November 8th.
