The 23-year-old who was driving the car that two nights ago overwhelmed and killed 18-year-old Francesco Valdiserri in Rome was arrested on suspicion of road murder.

The girl had an alcohol level beyond the permitted limit and was under the influence of drugs. Her situation is aggravated by the fact that a few years ago her license had already been withdrawn because she got behind the wheel while intoxicated.

"My wonderful 18-year-old is no more - wrote on Twitter the mother Paola di Caro, who like her husband Luca is a journalist for Corriere della Sera -. My child who had started running in life. A car in the night he hit him and he won't come back. Nothing will come back. Nothing makes sense anymore. Nothing. "

It was just past midnight: on the side street of via Cristoforo Colombo, the artery that connects Rome to the coast, a car lost control and ended up on the sidewalk, first uprooting a road sign and then hitting Francesco and a friend of his, who was unharmed. The 18-year-old died instantly, crushed by the car driven by the 23-year-old with a peer beside him.

A BAC of 1.57 was found in the young woman's blood, almost three times the limit. Now he is under house arrest and risks from 8 to 12 years.

Prosecutor Erminio Amelio ordered an autopsy on the victim's body which, in all probability, should take place today at the Tor Vergata Polyclinic.

Francesco Valdiserri's funeral is scheduled for tomorrow.
