Jacopo Allegrucci's installation "The Whale" created for the 24th International Exhibition of the Milan Triennale was set on fire this morning.

The giant blue papier-mâché whale was created for the exhibition that began on May 13th. Firefighters also responded to the scene, while state police officers are said to be searching for the arsonist.

The installation is one of four on endangered animals for the Triennale and is part of the project "The Fragility of the Future" by Allegrucci, who is also the master of the Floats of Viareggio.

The Triennale Milano confirms that the Balena caught fire and the staff promptly called the fire brigade and is now awaiting investigations by the authorities.
