"There's the issue of true integration, that is, sharing our values. So it's clear that if a girl enters class wearing a niqab, and sometimes even a burqa, she's clearly not living in a context that recognizes equality between men and women."

The Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara , said this while speaking on Tg2 Post about the amendment included in the security bill.

"Masking a woman, masking a girl," she continued, "means not recognizing her identity , her person, and it also damages social interaction . I therefore think the time has come to ban the use of these garments, which nullify a woman's personality and freedom, at least starting in schools."
