Three people are under investigation for the death of Gerardina Corsano, the 46-year-old who died last Tuesday in hospital in Ariano Irpino, in the province of Avellino, due to suspected botulinum food poisoning.

They are the owners of the pizzeria, husband and wife, where the victim and her husband, Angelo Meninno, had dinner last Saturday, and a doctor from the "Frangipane" hospital in Ariano Irpino who visited the couple last Sunday and Monday and then discharge her.

Registration is currently a required act undertaken by the prosecutor of the Benevento Prosecutor's Office who coordinates the investigations entrusted to the Police, at the same time as the assignment of the autopsy investigations. The autopsy should take place on Saturday in the presence of consultants who will indicate the injured parties and the suspects. In the pizzeria, which was seized, the local police officers took samples of chilli oil, tomatoes, oil and preserved mushrooms.

Angelo Meninno, the 52-year-old who has been hospitalized at the "Cotugno" hospital in Naples since Tuesday for suspected food poisoning and who, however, as far as we know, responds well to treatment, is still serious. Biological samples from humans will be analyzed by the laboratories of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. The Prevention Department of the Avellino Local Health Authority in turn carried out epidemiological investigations in the couple's home and inspections inside the pizzeria.
