Maria Angioni, Sassari judge on trial in Marsala (Trapani) for having provided false information to the prosecutor in the context of the investigation concerning Denise Pipitone, the child who disappeared in 2004 in Mazara del Vallo - has released long spontaneous statements in the courtroom.

In essence, she retracted her statements, which had turned out to be false and which had cost her the indictment, in a real twist in front of the monochrome judge Giuseppina Montericcio.

The former prosecutor read a long memoir, explaining that if when she was heard in the prosecutor's office last May she had had the documents of the investigation available, she would have said different things. The prosecutor asked for his acquittal but, according to the single judge, Angioni would not have expressly withdrawn his charges for which the acquittal would not be conceivable.

Angioni had reported a series of flaws in the investigation into the disappearance of the child.
