There would be a mechanical failure in the car behind the dramatic accident which on Saturday evening in Como caused the death of two people who ended up in the lake with a Mercedes GLS model SUV: Morgan Algeri, 38 years old from Brembate Sopra (Bergamo) and Tiziana Tozzo, 45 years of Cantù. According to what Algiers' sister reported to the flying squad, the car, purchased a few months ago, had already given some problems in recent days.

The hypothesis of a voluntary gesture was substantially excluded , also because it emerged that Saturday evening was the first date between the two , just as the hypotheses of illness or error, of the wrong maneuver seem less likely. According to witnesses, the car was parked facing the lake, about three meters from the balustrade : the two got in, Algiers started the car and the car shot forward at maximum power, breaking through the railing . The airbags were found open, probably following the impact with the surface of the water, as were the doors of the car, which was recovered by the firefighters at 15 meters of depth.

Algeri had been a test pilot and safety manager at the Caravaggio Flight School (Bergamo) since 2016 : «Morgan - says Alessio Pengue, his friend and partner - underwent refresher courses in "Water escape training" every year, which were used to learn like getting out of a plane that ended up in the water and with the cockpit overturned: if Morgan didn't make it out of his Mercedes that ended up in the lake, it means that there was absolutely no way to do it. Because if there was anyone trained, it was him. And this fact shocks me even more." The Mercedes GLS had been purchased about three months ago on lease: «It is therefore false that Morgan had rented that car to spend the evening with that woman and that, therefore, he was impractical in driving it - adds the partner -. Morgan had a big heart and humanity. Even all the students in our school who had had him as a flight teacher were fond of him. We are all shocked."
