Collision with a hydrofoil off the coast of Lipari, sailboat sinks

There was also a one-year-old boy among the occupants of a sailboat which collided with a hydrofoil off Lipari.

The accident occurred in the stretch of sea in front of Punta Castagna.

The passengers of the boat - in addition to the little one, also two adults - fell into the sea and were rescued by a seafarer who promptly dived to recover them. All three were taken aboard Liberty Lines' Calypso hydrofoil, while the boat sank.

To clarify the causes of what happened, the safety committee is at work.
