Held in a "cold case" dating back to 2004. Two people were arrested this morning by the carabinieri of the Turin investigative unit in relation to a murder that took place in San Mauro on 11 July 2004. The victim is Giuseppe Gioffrè, a native of Sant 'Eufemia d'Aspromonte, in the Reggio area, is a resident of the town on the outskirts of the Piedmontese capital.

At the base of the crime there would be questions of a feud dating back to the seventies.

The precautionary custody orders were carried out in Parma and Reggio Calabria. As for the recipients, both - according to the investigators - are affiliated with the 'Ndrangheta and one was already detained for another cause.

The first investigations of the time had led to the 21-year sentence in prison of Stefano Alvaro, considered one of the three members of the commando. In May 2021, the Ris di Parma used new computer-fingerprinting technologies to analyze some artifacts found near the burned-out car used to carry out the ambush. In the reconstruction of the investigators, the feud dates back to the seventies, when Gioffrè, at the end of a dispute for commercial reasons, killed two members of the Dalmato-Alvaro clan.
