"Very saddened and destroyed." This is how his lawyers describe Christian Sodano, the Marshal of the Financial Police who killed Nicoletta Zomparelli and Renèe Amato, mother and sister of his ex-girlfriend Desyrèe, with his service pistol on Tuesday afternoon in Cisterna di Latina.

Before committing the double femicide, he had already expressed his intentions in messages to his ex: "If you leave me I will hurt your family, I will make you feel the same pain I feel." «He was possessive – repeats Desyrée's grandfather, Giovanni Zomparelli – and she couldn't stand him anymore. He had my niece's name tattooed on his chest, her face on his thigh, and they hadn't been together for even a year. The threats? It seemed like a joke."

Now he is "destroyed by such a tragedy", say the lawyers Lucio Teson and Leonardo Palombi at the end of the interrogation to validate the arrest which took place in the Latina prison. The 27-year-old did not respond to the investigating judge Giuseppe Cario, making use of the right not to respond. The arrest was confirmed for him and the precautionary measure in prison confirmed on charges of double murder. In front of the investigators, three evenings ago Sodano confessed to having fired several gunshots at his girlfriend's mother and sister. Desyrèe wanted to leave him and was returning some gifts to him. He said he shot out of panic and that he initially wanted to take the gun from the car to take his own life. Then, instead, he asked his girlfriend to kill him after chasing her into his sister's room, where she had initially taken refuge.

A version that could be denied or confirmed by the results of the autopsies, which began two evenings ago and are still underway at the Tor Vergata University of Rome, useful to understand whether he actually aimed at women or, as he claimed, used the weapon waving his arm wildly. After the arrest, however, a backpack containing plastic bags, gloves, duct tape, handcuffs and a telescopic truncheon was found in his car. His lawyers explained that these were objects he used for "the boat, given that he carries out fishing activities". In this case, the Prosecutor's Office will have to evaluate the hypothesis of premeditation, as well as that of voluntary homicide, already contested.
