Injuries and refusal of official acts. These are the accusations that a pediatrician from Trento will have to answer, sent to trial on charges of having refused to visit MM, the child who has been in a vegetative state since 2017 due to the Seu disease (Hemolytic-uremic syndrome) contracted after having tasted a piece of cheese made from raw milk.

According to the Trento prosecutor Maria Colpani, the woman, when the child began to feel ill and was taken to hospital, did not visit him despite the request of a colleague. This caused a delay in diagnosing the disease – which involves the formation of small clots that block the blood supply to vital organs – which then sent him into a vegetative state. Hence the request for trial, accepted by the preliminary hearing judge Enrico Borrelli, with the first hearing set for April 24th.

For the sad story of MM, the former president of a dairy and a cheesemaker, who were accused of causing very serious injuries, have already been sentenced to pay a fine.
