"Now, with help, I can sleep." Journalist Cecilia Sala said this in an interview with "Che tempo che fa" , guest of Fabio Fazio . The reporter retraced the three weeks of imprisonment in the maximum security Iranian prison of Evin , recounting the difficulties she experienced behind bars, between doubts and fear.
"I was very lucky to only be in there for 21 days ," she continued. "My recovery is quicker than that of many other people who have been there for hundreds of days." Cecilia then dwelt on an episode that marked her imprisonment. " I asked for the Koran in English , because I thought it was a book that they couldn't deny me in a maximum security prison in Iran, and instead it was refused . I spent the time counting my fingers and reading the ingredients on the packets."
There was also a passage about the interrogations she underwent, with some dramatic details: " I was interrogated with my hood on, facing the wall ," she explained. "During one interrogation I collapsed, they gave me a pill to calm me down . I was always interrogated by the same person, who spoke perfect English and I understood that he knew Italy very well. The day before my release I was interrogated for ten hours straight."
