Catania, fear is growing: the cyclone is turning into a hurricane

There is still bad weather alarm in Sicily, especially in Catania where there is a new alert. Extreme phenomena are expected today and tomorrow after the two victims and one missing person registered in recent days.

The regional government has already approved a state of emergency, the damages quantified at the moment are huge but a precise estimate has not yet been made.

There is a lot of fear, cities and towns have been submerged by water, mud, and many volunteers are still clearing the streets of debris and waste. The shops are barred by iron barriers to protect the goods. Schools and public offices are closed.

The cyclone "Mediterranean", or "MediCane", which is turning into a hurricane will bring heavy rains in these hours on the Catanese then it will move on to Calabria. Disturbances are also expected in Sardinia.
