Green light in the House commission for an amendment that "increases the penalties for those who capture or kill Marsican bears".
This was announced by the president of the Constitutional Affairs Commission of the Chamber Nazario Pagano, regional coordinator of Fi Abruzzo, commenting on the proposed amendment to the legislative decree on justice. «The amendment - concluded Pagano - provides for, in the case of killing, capture and detention of specimens of Marsican brown bears, arrest from six months to two years and a fine from 4,000 euros to 10,000 euros».
«An amendment has just been approved in the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Chamber, with my first and only signature, which provides for the tightening of penalties for those who capture or kill Marsican bears», explains Pagano. Adding: «It is an endemic species found only in central-southern Italy and represents one of the most at risk of extinction in Europe, as highlighted by an ISPRA dossier».
