During a hike he saw his father collapse due to a serious illness, he called for help with his father's cell phone. Guided by telephone by 118 operators he performed cardiac massage. But unfortunately his efforts were not rewarded: the man did not make it.

The protagonist of this story that unfortunately does not have a happy ending is a 10-year-old boy, son of a 49-year-old Sardinian soldier, from the province of Cagliari and stationed in Gorizia: it all happened this morning along the uphill path that leads to the Monte Calvario monument. As soon as the little boy realized that his father was ill, he took his cell phone and dialed 112 , contacting the single emergency center of Friuli Venezia Giulia. "We witnessed, remotely, an extraordinary gesture," said Giulio Trillò, director of the Regional Emergency Health Operations Structure Fvg, "the child, after having activated the rescue with extreme promptness, lent himself, despite the dramatic emotional situation he was experiencing, to guarantee his father the most adequate assistance possible. Guided by our specialists, he subjected his parent to the best maneuvers practicable, as also confirmed by the resuscitator who then reached him on site."

The doctor explains that "it is right that the child knows that no one could have done more than he was able to do to try to save his parent. All our staff followed, with emotion, the audio of the entire emergency phase".

On site, in addition to the medical car and the ambulance, there were also police, firefighters - who had also sent the helicopter from Venice - and technicians from the Alpine Rescue team. But there was nothing that could be done for the father. The rescuers immediately took care of the little boy and accompanied him home to his mother, who in the meantime had been informed of the tragedy.
