The technicians of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency, The IAEA) have "lost the remote data transmission contact with the safeguard systems of the Chernobyl power plant".

This was announced by the Agency itself, in an official note. As is known, all the main nuclear power plants in the world are connected to the Aiea offices for constant monitoring. Thus that of Chernobyl, in Ukraine, ended in these days of conflict under the control of Russian troops .

Meanwhile, the general manager Rafael Mariano Grossi launches an appeal to Moscow to ask that the rotation of the 210 technicians who work at the plant be respected, "at work without interruption" since last February 24, when the Moscow forces took control of the plant, warning of the risk that the non-turnover of technical personnel may entail.

Yesterday, the IAEA - founded in 1957 with the aim of promoting the peaceful use of atomic energy and preventing its development for military purposes - reported that Russian bombings damaged a nuclear research facility that produces radioisotopes for medical and industrial purposes in the Kharkiv area.
