Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who was defeated by Lula in Sunday's runoff election, has left Brazil and is fleeing to the United States with his wife and two daughters. Brazilian media outlets Metropoles, Folha de S.Paulo, and CNN Brasil reported, citing sources close to the family. The flight is expected to land in the United States in the next few hours, as confirmed by U.S. authorities.

According to sources cited by Folha de S.Paulo, the trip was organized and facilitated by a lawyer close to the Bolsonaro family. The last message sent by Flávio to his collaborator Rogério Marinho dates back to 8:00 a.m.

The exact location of his departure remains unclear. According to CNN Brasil, the senator's name appeared on the passenger manifest of a plane stopped in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, with suspicions that the information was used to mislead investigators. Some sources claim that Flavio departed from another Argentine city.

His brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, has also been living in the United States since February 2025, having moved to Southlake, Texas, with his wife, Heloísa. He has an arrest warrant issued by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Eduardo was sentenced to four years and two months in prison for coercion during the proceedings, pursuant to Article 344 of the Brazilian Penal Code.

According to the conviction, he allegedly exploited his position to push for US economic sanctions against Brazilian authorities and economic sectors, in an attempt to interfere in the legal proceedings involving his father, Jair Bolsonaro.
