The policeman convicted for the death of George Floyd was stabbed in prison.

Derek Chauvin must serve a 22-year prison sentence and, according to American media reports, he is now in serious condition after the attack he suffered in prison in Tucson, Arizona.

The officer, with three other colleagues, had intervened in Minneapolis in May 2020 to arrest an African American, George Floyd, accused of attempting to sell a fake twenty dollar bill. Despite the man's pleas, who asked to be able to breathe, he handcuffed him to the ground and Chauvin pressed his knee against the 46-year-old's neck and back for over 9 minutes.

A respiratory crisis had caused Floyd's death.
