“We regret any loss of life in this war. We provide weapons to Ukraine so that it can defend its sovereign territory against armed aggression, including in Crimea which, of course, is part of Ukraine."

This is how US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller responded to a question about Moscow's threat of consequences for Kiev's attack on Sevastopol with American weapons.

A raid that caused civilian victims, including children, and which led the Kremlin to point the finger at the United States, branded as "responsible" for the attacks, as suppliers of the Atacms missiles used to bomb Crimea, a peninsula annexed to Russian territory ten years ago, but which Ukraine continues to consider an integral part of its territory.
