The Ceuta migration crisis must be addressed as a European issue, and greater solidarity among EU member states is needed, but "there have been governments that have not been up to the task," including Italy. Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said this in an interview with TVE on the eve of the meeting of European Interior Ministers dedicated specifically to the issue of migrants.

"There have been governments that have not been up to the task," the minister stated, "and even some politicians and parties in Spain," who have taken what he called "irresponsible positions. The Italian government was one of them."

Also at the center of the Interior Ministers' meeting was the proposal—supported by Italy—to expand the "Albania model" to the European level, with new hubs for the repatriation of illegal migrants to safe third countries, financed by EU funds.

Meanwhile, approximately 73,000 migrants who arrived in the Spanish exclave in Morocco in recent days have been repatriated, according to the latest updates from Spain.
