The re-radicalization work continues in Afghanistan, after the withdrawal of Western forces and the return to power of the Taliban regime.
The latest measure taken by the Taliban is to prohibit men from cutting their beards. A ban imposed on barbers from various provinces because having a shaved face would be "contrary to sharia law".
The news spread, creating a stir, after the BBC viewed the notice issued by the regime to the salons of the southern province of Helmand. "Nobody has the right to complain", reads, among other things, in the document.
According to reports, the same order was given to several hairdressers in Kabul. "One of the Taliban told me that they could send undercover inspectors to do checks," said a hairdresser for men in the Afghan capital, again quoted by the BBC.
Another barber reported that the Koranic students would have told him to "stop following the American style". Finally, a third explained that "customers do not cut their beards so as not to be targeted by Taliban militiamen on the street".
